Welcome to CCA Alliance

“The impressive progress made by Hispanic/Latino immigrants from generation to generation, shows the great potential they have in the future of our nation. Their numbers are so great, like the postwar baby boomers before them, that they are becoming a driving force in politics, culture, and the economy.

It is paramount for second-generation Hispanics to get a better education and to be able to go to college. We focus on their parents as agents of change, because research shows that parents who are involved in their children’s education can be the strongest and most positive influence on their educational achievement. Helping Hispanics with their educational attainment is an investment in our future.

In collaboration with Monterrey Tech —the world-leader in Spanish online education— we offer a well-structured program that allows parents to learn marketable skills, further their education, and become full partners in their children’s educational attainment.

Our program has received accolades from school principals and has been accepted by more than 110 schools and community-based organizations in Texas. The program’s success is the springboard to bring it to other fast-growing Hispanic communities across the nation.

If you would like to have this program in your schools, or if you know a school that might be interested, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Your idea is very solid and badly needed. You have identified a real need and an effective way to help Latino families build their futures. Your own cross-cultural understandings put you in a position to create the appropriate organization. I stand ready to be supportive as best I can.

“Every good program has a good leader behind it who has the passion and commitment to pursue excellence and success. Day in and day out your commitment and passion contributed to the great success that the CCA has had in Houston. You have laid a foundation for helping improve educational attainment of our Latino community and opened up opportunities for them to improve their lives, and to realize the American dream. You have paved the way for others to follow and I am most grateful to you.”

I look back over the past five years and am truly amazed at how quickly José-Pablo Fernandez took an idea for expanding immigrant educational attainment, implemented it and then took it to scale to reach an incredible number of people. It is extremely exciting to watch as he takes the necessary steps to take this project to national scale and reach even more people, a true ripple effect.

Caroline J. Sabin
Executive Director
The Powell Foundation

I applaud your spirit and desire to take something that is great at a local level and make it great at a national level, or possibly even global. The need for education among adults so far outstrips our capacity to provide it.

Dr. David Francis
Director of the Texas Institute for Measurement, Evaluation, and Statistics of the University of Houston

Glad to hear that there are people like you helping the disenfranchised and underserved population, particularly Mexicans. I volunteer at my grandchildren's school and meet lots of Latino parents who would like to be more involved but are not. I feel it is because they don't feel they have the skills. But they do. I hope I can encourage them to join me and become more involved. Thank you for the encouragement I got from reading about you.

Congratulations: not only to you and CCA Alliance, but also to Civic Ventures for recognizing your leadership, commitment, dedication and ability to effect change.
